The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted a massive search operation at 15 locations in eight states across the country in a Pakistan-linked espionage case.

  • No Option Left”: Rajasthan Couple Dies By Suicide Over Online Gaming Debt

A day before dying by suicide, the man had told his wife’s sister that he was under a debt to the tune of Rs 4 to 5 lakh.

A couple in Rajasthan allegedly died by suicide amid uncertainty over paying back losses incurred in online gaming.

Kota resident Deepak Rathore, who used to play online games on his mobile phone, had told his sister a day before he and his wife Rajesh Rathore died by suicide that he was under a debt of Rs 4 to 5 lakh. “I have no option left except to die,” he had told his elder sister.

Deepak Rathore’s sister had asked him to not take any drastic steps and assured him that money will be arranged to pay back the debt. Despite the advice, the couple died by hanging from the fan in their room.

Their bodies were found when Deepak Rathore’s father Satyanarayan Rathore knocked on the door but received no response. A few minutes later, the couple’s five-year-old daughter opened the room’s door from inside.

While online gaming debt is being considered the reason behind the couple’s suicide, all aspects of the incident are being probed, Kota Rural Superintendent of Police Sujeet Shankar said.

The couple got married six years ago.

Last month, the Supreme Court had agreed to examine a plea seeking a complete ban on “illegal” betting apps. The petition also sought strict regulations on online gaming and fantasy sports, and the enactment of a comprehensive law. The top court issued a notice to the Centre and sought its response, but refrained from issuing notices to the state governments at the present stage.

Rajasthan Police have arrested three persons, including a software engineer, exposing a big online cricket betting ring.

Rajasthan Police have arrested three persons, including a software engineer, exposing a big online cricket betting ring. The gang had made bets of more than Rs 150 crore across the country, with a network spread to Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and several other states.

Police have seized six Android mobile phones, two laptops, a hard drive and an SUV with 15 ATM cards from them. Alwar SP Sanjeev Nain said that the arrested accused used to cheat people by creating websites of online betting apps.

Police recovered six Android mobiles, two laptops, a hard drive, 15 ATM cards of various banks and an SUV.

According to police, the gang had set up about 30 websites on the lines of the Mahadev Satta app.

These websites used to offer bets on other sports, including the IPL. In addition, online casinos and matka (such as Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Jodhpur) and others were also available on these websites.

The accused were actively involved in the entire organisation, from the developer to the distributor and whitewashing black money. More than 60,000 agents and players were involved in this racket, worth Rs 150 crore. Money earned from betting was distributed online and through hawala, which was used to purchase properties in several cities.

A team from Udyog Nagar Police Station took action against Head Constable Sandeep working in the cyber cell on the basis of an intelligence tip.

While returning from Agra after the blockade, Nitin Paliwal was stopped and questioned. A case was registered on the basis of information obtained from his mobile and laptop. During the investigation, the team also arrested Mahesh Sharma and Piyush Sharma from Mathura.

Police have remanded the accused for four days, and further investigation is ongoing. Police are also gathering information about other members and associates of the gang.

  • Man Robbed Of Rs 14.5 Lakh Cash Garland At Gunpoint After Rajasthan Wedding

Made from around 3,000 notes of Rs 500 each, the garland was meant as a grand gesture to honour the groom.

A man carrying a garland made of currency notes worth Rs 14.5 lakh was robbed at gunpoint. He was returning from a wedding in Bhiwadi in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. The incident occurred on June 1 and left the victim with head injuries.

Mr Shad, a relative of the groom from Kishangarh Bas town, rented the cash garland from Haryana for the wedding ceremony. Made from around 3,000 notes of Rs 500 each, the garland was meant as a grand gesture to honour the groom, a common tradition in Indian weddings.

According to police, the robbery occurred while Mr Shad and another person were on their way back to Haryana on a motorcycle, carrying the rented garland. Near Chuharpur village, a Hyundai Creta approached them at high speed, deliberately ramming their bike to stop them. The assailants then threatened Mr Shad with a gun and forcibly snatched the cash garland. He was also hit on the head, resulting in injuries.

Police officials quickly arrived at the scene, inspected the area, and launched a search for the suspects. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kailash Chaudhary confirmed that a case has been registered based on Mr Shad’s complaint and that investigations are underway. Authorities are actively working to identify and apprehend the accused.

In India, wedding cash garlands are a traditional symbol used to bless and honour the bride and groom. They represent prosperity, respect, and goodwill.

In a related incident last year, a groom in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut abandoned his wedding procession to chase down a man who snatched his cash garland. The incident occurred on a highway during the traditional wedding ride on horseback.

A mini-truck driver reportedly tore off the garland and fled, but the groom quickly hopped on a passerby’s bike and gave chase. He caught up to the driver, climbed onto the truck, forced him out, and, along with others from the wedding party, confronted him.

The driver claimed he took the garland by mistake and had no intention to steal. No official complaint was filed, but a video of the dramatic chase went viral on social media
